PROGRESS REVIEW MEETING |

(Karnataka), January 21: The mahamasthakabhishekha progressive committee
review meeting was held on the 21st January 2005, in the presence of
Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Maharaj. Speaking on the occasion he said
that till date invitation has been sent to nearly 70% of all the tyagi
sanghs. Further he said that with the help and aids of the central and the
state Governments many developmental programmes have been under taken. He
expressed his happiness over the works in progress. The chief patron of the
mahamasthakabhishekha Sri D.Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala was also
present on the occasion. He gave his useful suggestions to the members of
various sub committees about the works to be undertaken. He called upon the
youth to take an active role in the mahamasthakabhishekha celebrations. -

BANGALORE OFFICE INAUGURATED |

January 31: The Bangalore office of the mahamasthakabhishekha was
inaugurated in the premises of the Karnataka Jain Bhavan. Senior member of
the Bangalore Jain samaj Sri A.K.A.Rajappa inaugurated the office. -

UNION AND STATE GOVERNMENTS RELEASE 100
CRORES |

Shravanabelagola
(Karnataka), February 6: The union and the state Governments have
released a sum of Rs. 100 crores towards the mahamasthakabhishekha
celebrations of Lord Bahuali. Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Maharaj the
pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt informed this at a meeting
organised to review the progress of the various sub committees. He said that
these funds would be utilised towards the developmental projects at
Shravanabelagola and Hassan district. Further he listed the following
programmes for which the funds have been allocated: second stage of the
Yatri Nivas (1 crore), extension of the V.V.I.P. guest houses (1 crore),
developmental works of the rural roads (5 crores), renovation of the
hospitals at Shravanabelagola and Channarayapatna (2 crores), repair of the
roads and drainages of Shravanabelagola, construction of sulabh bath
houses(2 crores), development of various state highways and others. He also
said that funds would be utilised for the overall development of Hassan
district. Further fe said special emphasis would be paid towards the
development of all tourist places in Karnataka. Presidents, conveners and
members of various committees were present and they exchanged their views

EMPHASIS TO SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAMMES |

(Karnataka), February 6: It has been decided to conduct a series of
social welfare programmes on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhishekha of
Lord Bahubali. Planning is underway in this connection. Eye camps, health
camps, veterinary camps, artificial leg alignments camps, religious
educational camps and others have been planned. It is also been decided to
recognise the works of various individuals and organisations who involve
voluntarily in such programmes. Sri Suresh Kumar of the Social Welfare sub
committee informed this at a meeting organised to review the progress of the

INVITATION TO JAIN ASCETICS |

Shravanabelagola
(Karnataka), February 6: In the backdrop of the mahamasthakabhishekha of
Bhagawan Bahubali at Shravanabelagola invitations have been sent to more 70%
of all the Jain tyagi sanghs to grace the occasion. The invitations to the
other sanghs would be dispatched shortly. Acharya Sri Vardhaman Sagarji who
has left for Shravanabelagola in connection with the Mahamasthakabhishekha
is expected to enter Karnataka by first week of April. Sri Gangawal of the
Tyagi Seva Samithi informed this at a meeting organised to review the

TRANSPORT FACILITIES |

Shravanabelagola
(Karnataka), February 6: On the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhishekha of
Lord Bahubali in Shravanabelagola the Karnataka State Road Transport
Corporation has decided to ply 400 special buses. Along with the renovation
of the bus stand at Shravanabelagola three temporary bus stations would be
established at Shravanabelagola. It has also been decided to start
information centres at Bangalore, Mysore, Arasikere and Hassan. Along with
this the state transport department will organise one day package trips to
Jain pilgrim centres at the time of Mahamasthakabhishekha. Sri
K.B.Gulabchand of the transports sub committee informed this at a meeting

SERIES OF CONFERENCES AT
SHRAVANABELAGOLA |

Shravanabelagola (Hassan
District, Karnataka), February 15: It has been decided to conduct a
series of conferences at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the
Mahamasthakabhishekha of Lord Bahubali. In this connection the Karnataka
Jain Youth Conference, All India Jain Youth Conference, Kannada Jain
Literary Conference, All Religions Meet, Karnataka State Women's Conference,
National Women's Conference and others would be organised. The preparations
are underway to conduct these conferences. All these conferences will be

MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKHA MEETINGS ALL OVER INDIA |

Shravanabelagola (Hassan
District, Karnataka), February 15: It has been decided to conduct a
series of meetings all over India With an intention of popularising the
Mahamasthakabhishekha of Bhagawan Bahubali to be held at Shravanabelagola in
2006. In connection with this meetings have been organised at Kolkata on
February 20 and at Mumbai on March 6. Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar, the national
working president of the Mahamasthakabhishekha informed this. He has
cited that meetings would be organised at Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore
in this connection. Further he has said that it has been decided to conduct

INAUGURATION OF MAHOTSAVA ON JANUARY 22ND

Shravanabelagola (Hassan
District, Karnataka), February 22: The long awaited first
Mahamasthakabhishekha of Bhagawan Bahubali of the 21st century will
be held from 8th to 19th February, 2006. His Holiness Karmayogi
Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of
Shravanabelagola disclosed it and added that Acharya Sri
Vardhamansagar Maharaj who graced the previously held
Mahamasthakabhishekha in 1993 will grace the present
Mahamasthakabhishekha also. The inauguration of the Mahotsava is
scheduled to be held on sunday the 22nd January, 2006.

The Mahamasthakabhishekha
celebration is held as a symbol of world peace and coexistence. Lakhs of
devotees of Bahubali, acharyas and eminents from all over the world will
participate in this historic event. It is expected that 25 lakhs of people
will attend the Mahamasthakabhishekha. The arrangements are being made for
10,000 people to witness the event from Indragiri and 3 lakhs from
Chandragiri hills.
It may be recalled that the
Masthakabhishekhas were held in 1953, 1967, 1981 and 1993 in the post
independent period. The dignitaries such as Indira Gandhi the former prime
minister of India, Shankardayal Sharma the former president participated in
the events. It is to note that Manmohan Singh, the prime minister of India
and Smt.Sonia Gandhi the A.I.C.C. president are expected to witness the

KARNATAKA STATE JAIN YOUTHS CONFERENCE AT
SHRAVANABELAGOLA |

Shravanabelagola (Hassan
District, Karnataka), March 1: As a prelude to the
Mahamasthakabhishekha of Lord Bahubali to be held at
Shravanabelagola in 2006 the
Karnataka State Youth Conference has been organised at
Shravanabelagola on sunday the 17th of April, 2005. All youths, men
and women from Karnataka aged between 18 and 40 years can
participate in the conference. The youth organisations can register
by providing the following details: Name of the organisation,
address, phone numbers, year in which it was founded, total number
of members, number of members willing to participate in the
conference and other details. Those who wish to have lodging
accommodation are requested to inform well in advance. The lodging
facilities would be provided from the evening of 16th to the morning
of 18th April. The preparations for the conference are underway
under the able guidance of Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha
Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain mutt.
On April 17th the procession of the Jain youth, guidance and
discourses by subject experts, interactive sessions, talent
exhibitions and felicitation of the talents would be held. The
Mahamasthakabhishekha of Baghawan Bahubali will be held in February
2006 and as a prelude to it a series of conferences such as the
Karnataka Jain Youth Conference, All India Jain Youth Conference,
Kannada Jain Literary Conference, All Religions Meet, Karnataka
State Women's Conference, National Women's Conference and others
would be organised. This Youth Conference the first of its kind in
the series of such conferences held hitherto.
