Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), March 26: Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt has informed that the Kalashas for the celebration of the Mahamasthakabhishekha of Bhagawan Bahubali at Shravanabelagola to be held in February 2006 will be released on the 1st of May 2005. ALL INDIA JAIN WOMEN CONFERENCE AT SHRAVANABELAGOLA

FROM 18TH TO 20TH NOVEMBER 2005

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), April 1: As a prelude to the Mahamasthakabhishekha of Lord Bahubali scheduled to be held at Shravanabelagola in February 2006 the All India Jain Women Conference has been organised at Shravanabelagola on the 18th, 19th and 20th of November 2005. Smt. Shobha Vimuktha Kumar the coordinator of the conference has informed that the preparations for the conference have begun under the able guidance of Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain mutt.

     During the three day conference seminars, interactive sessions, exhibition and cultural programmes will be organised. The women who have been working towards the upliftment and propagation of the Jain religion would be felicitated on the occasion. SPECIAL OFFICER OF MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKHA APPOINTED

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), April 5: Sri M.Ashok, K.A.S. (Karnataka Administrative Service) officer has been appointed as the special officer of the Mahamasthakabhishekha Mahotsav of Bhagawan Bahubali to be held at Shravanabelagola in February 2006. MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKHA SOUTH ZONE MEETING REVIEWS PROGRESS

Bangalore (Karnataka), April 10: The south zone meeting held at the Karnataka Jain Bhavan, Bangalore, reviewed the progress of the preparations of the Mahamasthakabhishekha of Bhagawan Bahubali scheduled to be held in February 2006. More than 700 dignitaries from the southern states, members of the mahamasthakabhishekha national committee and dignitaries of various Jain samaj's of Karnataka attended the meeting. The honorary president of the national committee Sri Nareshkumar Sethi, Jaipur; working president Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar, Bangalore; Sri Nirmal Kumar Sethi, Lucknow; the members of the national committee Sri D.A.Patil, Jaisinghpur; Sri Nirmal Kumar Sethi, Lucknow; Sri Arvind R.Doshi, Mumbai; Sri Satish Jain, Delhi; Smt. Sarita Mahendrakumar Jain, Chennai; Sri Trilokchand Jain, Bharatanagar, Delhi; Sri N.Jitendra, Kumar; Dr. Kotaria; Sri Jain Roop Bakiwal, Delhi; Sri Kamalkumar Badajathya, Mumbai; Sri Rajkumar Sethi; members of the Karnataka Legislative Council Sri Veerkumar Patil and Dr.M.R.Tanga and other dignitaries were present at the meeting.

The following decisions were taken and the proceedings drawn on the occasion:   

  • The committee hailed the decision of the of the state Government for appointing the K.A.S. officer Sri A.Ashok as the special officer of the mahotsav.

  • Larsen & Tubro Company assured the company to complete the permanent water supply scheme  to Shravanabelagola by October 31st, 2005.

  • Starting the construction work of the platform for the pilgrims to watch the mahamasthakabhishekha event on the Vindhyagiri hill and construction of the staircase for performing the pooja.

  • Providing lift facility on the western side of the Vindhyagiri.

  • Upgrading the primary healthcare centre at Shravanabelagola.

  • Completing of the Hassan-Mangalore railway line.

  • Construction of 271 permanent residential rooms at Shravanabelagola in cooperation with the Government and the society.

  • Arrangement of temporary accommodation for the people visiting the place during the event.

  • Construction of permanent Chavundaraya Mantap by the Government near the Bhandari basadi and the Matada basadi.

  • Starting of modernised information centre by the Government near the Chandragiri hill of Shravanabelagola.

  • Implementing various social welfare programmes.

  • Planning the organisation of various conferences and seminars.

  • Organising popular religious and national cultural programmes.

  • Providing transportation and communication facilities to different places from Shravanabelagola.

Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar appealed to the members assembled to extend full cooperation to implement the various schemes undertaken for the successful celebration of Mahamasthakabhishekha. He also immensly thanked the interest shown by both state and central Governments for conducting Mahamasthakabhishekha.

     Sri Dhanyakumar R.Shah of the Kalasha distribution committee said that the abhishkeha will be conducted for nine days in order to facilitate every individual in the society to conduct abhishekha for Lord Bahubali. -Jain Heritage Centres News Service

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), April 17: As a prelude to the February 2006 Mahamasthakabhisheka of Bhagawan Bahubali at Shravanabelagola a series of conference and workshops would be organised. The Karnataka State Jain Youths Conference the first in the list of such programmes raised the curtain for the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations. The conference began on a high note with more than three thousands youths from across Karnataka assembling at Chavundaraya Mantap witnessing its inauguration by Sri D.Surendra Kumar of Dharmasthala. He inaugurated the conference in a unique way by ringing the bell. Speaking on the occasion he expressed his happiness over the high literacy rate of the Jains and called upon the youth to take active steps in self employment rather than relying on the Governmental opportunities. He also called upon the elderly class of the society to give equal opportunities to the youth in all fields so as to boost their morale in taking up new challenges. He also felt that time is ripe for the youth to concentrate more on propagating their ancient religious values rather than getting influenced by the western customs. He requested the religious heads and pontiffs to lead the youth in the path of dharma.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt opined that the last three tirthankaras who attained the sainthood at a very young age stand as a motivation to the youth to follow the path of dharma. He called upon the youth to remember that the works done on religious basis would lead to success. Sri D.A.Patil the president of the Dakshinabharath Jain Sabha presided the inaugural function. Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar the working president of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsav National Committee delivered the key note address.

Youths March: Prior to the inauguration the youths assembled at Sri Vidyananda Nilaya and marched towards Chavundaraya Mantap in the premises of Bhandara Basadi and Jain Mutt. The youths who were in a jubilant mood and chanted the slogan Jai Gommatesha all through out their march and greeted each other. For some it was a unique opportunity to meet their new friends and for others it was reviving their old memories.

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), April 17: The Karnataka State Jain Youth's Conference passed an unanimous resolution to launch the 'Karnataka Jain Youth Federation (KJYF)' under the leadership of Sri D.Surendra Kumar the working president of Bharatiya Jain Milan. A resolution in connection with this was passed at the interactive session of the conference. During the interactive session many questions ranging on different aspects from the youth movements, Jain religious practices, practice of Yaksha Yakshi pooja, the future on youth movement in Karnataka and others flocked the organisers. Replying to a question on the future of the youth movement in Karnataka Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji put forward a proposal for the launch of the federation. This proposal was unanimously accepted by all and there by making way for the launch of the KJYF. The interactive session which was planned for just one hour extended to more than two and a half hour. With the questions flocking from all corners it was a herculean task for the organisers to filter out the questions. Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), April 17: As many as 22 youths from across Karnataka were felicitated at the Karnataka State Jain Youths Conference through the 'Pratibha Samman' programme. Youths belonging to a variety of fields were honoured at an attractive function. Sri D.Surendrakumar of Dharmasthala, Sri Abhaychandra Jain, chief whip Government of Karnataka and Sri S.Jitendrakumar president of Karnataka Jains Association felicitated the youths in the presence of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt.

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), April 17: The Karnataka state Jain youths conference that raised the curtains for the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations concluded with the Bhattrakha Sammelan. Nine Bhattarakhas from the Jain Mutts in South India participated in the conference, they include Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Bhattakalanka Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Sonda Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Lakshmisena Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Narasimharajapura Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Lalithakeerthi Swamiji of the Karkala Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Dhavalakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Tirumalai Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Bhanukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Kambadahalli Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Lakshmisena Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Melchitamur Jain Mutt, Swasti Sri Vrushabasena Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Lakkavalli Jain Mutt and Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Moodabidri Jain Mutt.

The Bhattarakha's called upon the youths to unite themselves and worked towards the propagation and revival of Jainism in the coming days. Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), April 22: The president of the Mahamasthakabhisheka state committee and the PWD minister Sri H.D.Revanna assured that a lift supported with a ropeway would be installed at Vindyagiri by the Mahamasthakabhisheka. He was speaking on the occasion of inaugurating the 2604th Mahavir Jayanthi celebrations at Shravanabelagola. He said that the lift intended to be established at Vindyagiri would have a capacity to carry 20 people at a time. He also added that the Department of Archeology is is preparing a blue print in this connection and said that a meeting in this connection was held with the secretary of the department of public works.
