ACHARYA VARDHAMANSAGARJI ENTERS SHRAVANABELAGOLA

CALLS FOR SPIRITUAL PROGRESS

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), June 25: Acharya Sri Vardhaman Sagarji Maharaj opined that spiritual progress is highly imperative than intellectual, as the former bridges fraternity among thwe people and leads to comprehensive understanding of humanity. He was speaking at a function organised at Sri Kshetra Shravanabelagola to celebrate his August entry. He cited the great qualities of Lord Bahubali such as sacrifice, meditation which have guided the people to the good path of perfection. He recollected the previous Mahamasthakabhisheka held in 1993 and hailed the significance of Mahamasthakabhisheka being celebrated periodically. He called upon the youth to voluntarily participate for the success of such a great deliberation. The other luminaries present on the occasion include Acharya Sri Gunanandi Maharaj and the Bhattarakhs of Moodabidri and Kambadahalli.

MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKA PREPARATIONS IN PROGRESS

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), June 25: His holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt cited that the preperations for the ensuing Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations are in full sing by the state and central Governments which have vowed to make the celebration eventful. Thousands of people are toiling incesently to provide the basic needs for the incoming visitors and pilgrims. The historical celebration will be held in the sacred guidance of His Holiness Elacharya 108 Sri Vardhamanasagarji Maharaj and in the holy presence of His Holiness Acharya Sri Vardhamansagarji Maharaj who has embelished this religious performance. The Swamiji added that the visit and the penance by the seers and ascetics will act as the beackon light to establish peace and happiness and thus Karnataka found its glorius path. He was speaking at a function organised to celebrate the Mangal Pravesh (Sanctified entry) of Acharya Sri VArdhaman Sagarji Maharaj. Sri Abhay Chandra Jain the chief whip of Government of Karnataka inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Sri C.S.Puttegowda the Member of the Legislative Assemble from Shravanabelagola presided over the function. Sri N.K.Sethi the honorary president, Sri A.R.Nirmalkumar the working president delivered the key note address. Sri Shanthiraj Shastry and Neeraj Jain observed the Mangalacharan.

DR. VEERENDRA HEGDE HAILS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SACRIFICE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), June 25: Dr.D.Veerendra Hegde, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala emphasised the significance and greatness of sacrifice and stressed its need at the present juncture of modern civilization. He was speaking on the occasion of Acharya Sri Vardhaman Sagarji's entry into Shravanabelagola to participate in the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations. He praised revered Vardhamansagarji for his religious fervour and walked a long distance of 2000 Kms in a short span of six months. He attributed this to the devotion of Acharyaji to Lord Bahubali.

HEARTY RECEPTION TO ACHARYA SRI VARDHAMANSAGARJI MAHARAJ

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), June 25: Thousands of people were seen thronging to welcome Acharya Sri VArdhaman Sagarji Maharaj traditionally at Shravanabelagola. The Acharyaji who happens to be the 5th successor of Acharya Sri Shanthisagarji's Akshunna tradition was given a grand and hearty welcome at Shravanabelagola in the presence of Munis, Bhattarakh's of different Jain Mutts and other dignitaries. A special gate was errected at the entrance to Shravanabelagola to welcome the seer. His holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt, Dr.D.Veerendra Hegde Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and other dignitaries welcomed the Acharya at this gate. The citizens of the place were enthralled receiving the Acharya. The padapooja was observed by them. Vardhamansagarji was taken in a procession till the Jain Mutt religiously and the city was found enjoying the poignance.

TRANSPORTATION FACILITY BETWEEN ICHALKARANJI AND SHRAVANABELAGOLA

Chikkodi (Karnataka), July 1: The transport facility by bus has been started from Inchalkarnaji to Shravanabelagola in connection with the ensuing Mahamasthakabhisheka as reported by K.B.Gulabchand of Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava Celebration Transport Committee. The bus leaves Ichalkaranji at 2 PM and reached Shravanabelagola the next day at 7 AM passing through Sadalaga, Nippani, Sthavanidhi, BElguam, Hubli and Shimoga, It leaves Shravanabelagola at 2.30 PM everyday and reaches Inhalkaranji at 7.00 A.M. next morning. The bus fare is Rs. 250.

16TH VARDHANTHI UTSAV OF ACHARYA VARDHAMANSAGARJI

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), July 10: 16th Vardhantiutsav of attaining Acharya status Sri Acharya Vardhamansagarji Maharaj's was observed for four days by the esteemed Jain samaj with all devotion and dedication. It was held from July 8th. Acharyaji was broughtr in a procession to Hulla Sabha Mantap amidst the chanting of devotional songs showered by the Musician Sri Kubera Chougale. Sri Acarya Shanthisagarji Maharaj was remembered by paying homage to his portrait. Special poojas were conducted by observing the padapooja of Acharyaji. The five volumes of Dhavala work published hitherto by National Prakrit Studies and Research Centre was presented to the Acharya by Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt.

MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKA IS LIFETIMES PUNYA

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), July 13: Achrya 108 Sri Varadattasagarji Maharaj has opined that "an individual gets an opportunity to see the Mahamasthakabhisheka by virtue of his punya". He was speaking on the occasion of his entry to Shravanabelagola. Acharya Sri who had observed his chaturmas at Kothali the previous year has accepted the invitation of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava Committee and has arrived to Shravanabelagola to observed his chaturmas here. Recalling his presence during the 1981 mahamasthakabhisheka as Kshullak and 1993 mahamasthakabhisheka as Muni he called upon the people to propagate and follow the life style and teachings of Lord Bahubali.

Speaking on the occasion Acharya Sri Vardhaman Sagarji Maharaj opined that one should follow the Jain dharmic way of life for self purification. Acharya Sri Gunanandiji Maharaj also spoke on the occasion. Sri Charukeeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji called upon the Jain samaj of Karnataka to actively involve in the religious activities and prepare themselves to welcome the Muni Sanghas at their places that would arrive to Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka.  

KANNADA JAIN LITERARY CONFERENCE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), August 1: All Karnataka Jain Literary Conference will be held on 22nd and 23rd October, 2005 at Shravanabelagola as part of Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations of Bhagwan Bahubali. Seminars, honouring of talented writers, cultural programmes and release of books and cassettes will be held. Further, people who have obtained Ph.D. on Jaina subjects from 1993 to 2005 will also be honoured on the occasion. A kavi sammelan will be held on the occasion and hence those who are interested to participate are here by informed to send thre poems to Sri Chandrakanth Padesoor the coordinator of the conference within October 15th. MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKA CULTURAL COMMITTEE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), August 1: The cultural sub committee consisting of 28 members has been formed under the executive chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Hassan District. Sri CHarukeerthu Bhattarakha Swamiji is the patron of the committee.
