KARNATAKA CM TO OFFER VINAYANJALI

50TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF ACHARYA SRI SHANTHISAGARJI

Shravanabelagola, August 15: A special programme in connection with the 50th death anniversary of Acharya Sri Shanthisagarji Maharaj has been organised at Shravanbelagola on the 4th and 5th of September, 2005. Acharya Sri Vardhamansagarji Maharaj the fifth successor of the Akshunna tradition of Acharya Sri Shanthisagarji Maharaj, Acharya Sri Gunanandi Maharaj, Acharya Sri Varadattasagarji Maharaj and other 40 Jain ascetics will be present on the occasion. The two day programme will be held under the guidance of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji.

CM's Presence: Sri N.Dharamsingh the chief minister of Karnataka will be present at a function organised on September 4th and will offer Vinayanjali to Acharya Shanthisagarji Maharaj. Dr.D.Veerendra Hegde the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, ministers, MLAs and other dignitaries will also be present on that day.            

'SRI SHANTHISAGAR SHANTHI SADBHAVANA CHARIOT' TO ENTER SHRAVANABELAGOLA

Shravanabelagola, September 1: 'Sri Shanthisagar Shanthi Sadbavana Chariot (Ratha)' will enter Shravanabvelagola on the 4th of September, 2005. This chariot has been traveling all its way from Stavanidhi to Shravanabelagola and the Rathayatra has been organised by Veera Sevadal a unit of the Dakshina Bharath Jain Sabha. On its way to Shravanabelagola it has traveled through the Belgaum, Dharwad, Shimoga, Mandya, Mysore and Hassan districts. The Ratha yatra will be concluded at Shravanabelagola at a special function organised to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of Acharya Sri Shanthisagarji Maharaj. The entire function will be held under the guidance of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji.

Sri Abhayachandra Jain the chief whip government of Karnataka will inaugurate the Rathayatra at Shravanabelagola and Dr.M.R.Tanga the member of the legislative council will preside over the function. Sri Puttegowda the member of the legislative assembly from Shravanabelagola will offer flowers to the chariot. 

At a function organised to welcome the chariot Sri .D.Veerendra Hegde the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala will release Acharya Shanthisagarji's photo and Sri Naresh Kumar Sethi will release the souvenir. Sri Kallappanna Avade, Sri Nirmal Kumar Sethi, Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar, Sri D.A.Patil, Sri Naganathanna Nayakavadi, Sri D.C.Patil, Sri Suresh Patil and other dignitaries will participate in the function. 

PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR NATIONAL WOMEN CONFERENCE

Bangalore (Karnataka), September 1: Preparations are underway for the National Jain Women's conference to be held at Shravanabelagola from 18th to 20th November, 2005. This conference has been organised as a part of the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations of Lord Bahubali. Smt Shobha Vimukthakumar the chief convener of the conference has announced this. She has informed that many Jain Women Associations (Mahila Samaj, Mandal, Sangh's and others) have already registered for the conference. She has requested the unregistered Jain women organisations to register at the earliest.

During the conference, exhibition of the cultural, art and craft articles will be conducted. Interested ladies can contact Smt Vimukthakumar for furthe details. YOUTH CONFERENCE POSTPONED

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), September 1: The All India Jain Youth Conference Scheduled to be held at Shravanabelagola on the 3rd and 4th October has been postponed due to inevitable reasons. Prof. D.A.Patil the convener of the conference has informed this.

'ACHARYA SHANTHISAGARJI'S LIFE HISTORY TO BE INCLUDED IN SCHOOL TEXT BOOKS'

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), September 4: His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt has called upon the state and central Governments to include the life history of Acharya Sri Shanthisagarji Maharaj in the school text books. He opined that Sri Shanthisagarji like Swami Vivekananda and Aurbindo struggled hard for the revival of the dharma and sanskriti. He said that 'Sri Shanthisagarji revived the Digambar Jain Ascetic Order in the 20th century and felt the need to introduce his biography in the school text books so as to inform about its importance to the younger generation'. He was speaking on the occasion of the 50th death anniversary celebration of Acharya Shanthisagarji Maharaj at Shravanabelagola.

SRI SHANTHISGARJI'S BIRTH PLACE TO BE A SACRED PLACE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), September 4: His Holiness Acharya Sri Vardhamansagarji Maharaj has called upon the Jain Samaj to consider the birth place of Acharya Sri Shanthisgarji as a sacred place and make it a point to visit it atleast once in their life time. He said that this would motivate the devotees to involve more in the religious activities. He was speaking on the occasion of the 50th death anniversary celebration of Acharya Shanthisagarji Maharaj at Shravanabelagola. He felt that it was highly impossible to forget the cotributions made by the Acharya to the Jain Dharma in the 20th century.

GRAND RECEPTION TO SHANTHI SADBHAVANA CHARIOT

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), September 5: More than 3000 devotees gathered from allover Karnataka and Maharashtra gave a grand reception to 'Sri Shanthisagar Shanthi Sadbavana Chariot (Ratha)' at Shravanabelagola. This chariot had traveled a distance of 600 Kms all its way from Stavanidhi to Shravanabelagola and the Rathayatra had been organised by Veera Sevadal a unit of the Dakshina Bharath Jain Sabha. Sri Kallappanna Avade the president of the Dakshina Bharath Jain Sabha welcomed the chariot by offering flowers at the footsteps of Chandragiri, simultaneously the devotees chanted the Namokara Mahamantra in chorus. Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar The working President of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsav inaugurated the Rathayatra at Shravanabelagola.   

AYURVEDA TREATMENT CAMP

Bangalore (Karnataka), September 25: A series of people welfare programmes have been organised in and around Shravanabelagola by the Janakalyana Samiti of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava. As a part of this a Ayurveda Treatment Camp has been organised at Shravanabelagola on the 25th of September for the benefit of the public. The camp has been organised in coordination with Sri Pujyapada Chikitsalaya of Tirthahalli; Sri Padmamba Rasa Oushada Karyala, Shimoga and Sri Padmamba Charitable trust. Well known Ayurveda specialists will participate in the camp.
