ARTIFICIAL LIMB ALIGNMENT CAMP

Bangalore (Karnataka), September 15: A series of people welfare programmes have been organised in and around Shravanabelagola by the Janakalyana Samiti of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava. As a part of this an Artificial Limb ALignment Camp has been organised at Shravanabelagola for the benefit of the needy. The camp has been organised in coordination with C.B.Bhandari Charitable Trust, Bangalore. Artificial limbs alignments would be done at the week long camp organised at Shravanabelagola from 16th to 23rd October, 2005. Free Calipers would be distributed on the occasion. AYURVEDA TREATMENT CAMP HELD AT SHRAVANABELAGOLA

Bangalore (Karnataka), September 25: A Ayurveda Treatment Camp had been organised at Shravanabelagola for the benefit of the public by the Janakalyana Samiti of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava. More than 600 patients were examined and treated during the camp. His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. The camp had been organised in coordination with Sri Pujyapada Chikitsalaya of Tirthahalli; Sri Padmamba Rasa Oushada Karyala, Shimoga and Sri Padmamba Charitable trust. Well known Ayurveda specialists will participate in the camp.

Dr.Jevandar Jain Of Tirthahalli, Dr.M.R.Nagaraj Hegde and Dr.Malathi Hegde of Shimoga, Dr.Bharathi Mohan Kumar of Shravanabelagola, Dr.DHanapal Kelasoor of Hassan and Dr.H.S.L.Kumar of Pandavapura participated as specialist doctors. Sri H.N.Rajendrakumar and Sri S.B.Suresh Jain the president and convener of the Janakalyana Sub Committee coordinated the camp.

ALL KARNATAKA JAIN LITERARY CONFERENCE AT SHRAVANABELAGOLA

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), October 1: The All Karnataka Jain Kannada Literary Conference will be held at Shravanabelagola on the 22nd and 23rd October, 2005. The conference has been organised under the guidance of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt as a part of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava celebration of Lord Bahubali. Noted Jain writer Dr.Hampa Nagarajaiah will be the president of the conference.

Three Plenary Sessions, Interactive Session, Kavi Sammelan, Chandragiri Shasana Sahitya Parichaya (Details of the Inscriptions of Chndragiri Hillock will be given), Book Release, release of Souvenir and book release  programmes have been planned at the conference. Kannada literary enthusiasts willing to participate in the conference are here by informed to register themselves on or before 15th October, 2005. Jain writers who wish to release their books will have to submit three copies of the book to be released to the coordinator of the conference. EXHIBITION DURING WOMEN'S CONFERENCE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), October 15: On the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali a three day National Women Conference has been organised at Shravanabelagola from 18th to 20th November, 2005. An exhibition will also be arranged during the conference. Books, paintings, craft articles and other attractive articles can be exhibited during the exhibition.  HAMPANA TAKEN IN AN ATTRACTIVE PROCESSION

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: The president of the All Kannada Jain Literary Conference Dr.Ham.Pa.Nagarajaiah was taken in an attractive procession to Boppana Stage of the Chavundaraya Mantap, the venue of the conference. He was decorated with traditional Mysore Silk Turban, Hassan districts famous cardamom garland and sandalwood garland. Dr.Hampana was escorted by Sri D.N.Akki and Sri A.B.Pandit of Gulbarga district to the procession vehicle.

The pooja kunitha of Mandya district, Jaggalige Mela of Dharwad District, Kiligombe Kunita of Dakshina Kannada, Mysore Band Set, Dollu Kunita of Sagar and other cultural troupe participated in the procession. The youths led the procession with the Kannada flags in their hand. The women of the Kushmandini Mahila Samaj carrying the Kalashas on their head was an added attraction to the procession.

THE JAIN AND KANNADA FLAGS HOISTED

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: The religious Jain flag and the Kannada flag were hoisted before the beginning of the All Kannada Jain Literary Conference. The president of the conference Dr.Hampana, Sri H.L.Chandraprabhu president of the Hassan Digambar Jain Samaj and Sri G.A.Mahendra Kumar president of the Hassan Digambar Jain Samaj were welcomed to the flag post by the women with the traditional arati. The chanting of Gommata Vandana by the students of Sri Ambika School was an added attraction to the hoisting ceremony.    

PROF. VENKATASUBBAIAH CALLS FOR FOCUS ON 'HALAGANNADA'

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: Prof. G.Venkatasubbaiah one of the doyens of Kannada literature called upon the Jain and Kannada writers to focus much on 'Halagannada' (Old Kannada). He was speaking after inaugurating the All Kannada Jain Literary organised on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali. He called upon the people to record the pronunciation of the old Kannada literature from the Jain scholars so as to guide the younger generation in the study of Halagannada. He further opined that the study of Halagannda would help us to explore more and more literary works.   

HAMPANA  CALLS FOR ANNUAL JAIN LITERARY FAIRS AT DISTRICT LEVEL

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: Renowned Jain writer and the president of the All Karnataka Jain Literary conference Dr.Ham.Pa.Nagarajaiah called for conducting annual Jain literary fairs at the district levels so as to revive the interest among the masses in the study of Jaina literary works. He was delivering his presidential address at the All Karnataka Jain Literary conference held at Shravanabelagola as a part of the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations of Lord Bahubali.

He stressed upon the need to build a well equipped library focusing on the religious, historicial and literary heritage of Jainism. He opined that this would be a beckon light to the younger generations and tourists visiting Shravanabelagola. Further he elaborated in detail the interests generated amongst the scholars of the western world in the study of Jainism.

He called upon the pontiffs of the Jain monasteries to organise at least one literary functions so as to revive and encourage the literary forms. Though the contribution of Jain writers to Kannada language is stupendous, he felt that there is lack of publicity about the same.

He applauded the efforts of Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt in encouraging and reviving Jain literary forms.

ACHARYA VANDANA TO THE TYAGIS

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: His Holiness Acharya 108 Sri Vardhamansagarji Maharaj opined that the Kannada literature has been enriched by the Jain poets and writers and felt that one cannot imagine Kannada literature without Jains. He was delivering his Ashirvachan during the Acharya Vandana programme organised at the inauguration of the All Kannada Jain Literary conference at Shravanabelagola. Further he recalled the contribution of Chavundaraya to the Jain literature through his work 'Trishashti Shalaka Purana'.

Niranjana Stuthi: Sri Vardhamansagarji chanted the following lines of the Niranjana stuthi written by the Jain poet Ratnakaravarni in his work Bharatesha Vybhava "Parama Paranjyothi Koti Chandraditya Kirana Sugnana Prakasha...", the chanting of these lines by Acharya Sri created an electrifying effect among the audience.  

Acharya 108 Sri Varadattasagarji Maharaja and Acharya 108 Sri Gunanandiji Maharaj also delivered their Ashirvachan during the conference.

The Acharya Vandana programme was conducted under the presence of all the Jain ascetics present at Shravanabelagola. The Hampana couples performed the padapooja to the three acharyas. Later Jain writer Sri T.R.Jodatti and his wife offered the Sri Phalas to the Acharyas.   

CHARUKEERTHIJI CALLS FOR MORE FOCUSED STUDY OF ANCIENT JAINA LITERARY WORKS

Shravanabelagola, Oct 22: Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the Pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt called upon the Jain writers to undertake a much focused study of the Ancient Jaina Literary works so as to bring to light more and more unexplored literature. He felt that a much focused study would help in educating the present generation about the ancient Jaina works. He further called upon the Kannada writers to translate more and more Jain works in Sanskrit and Prakrit to Kannada so as to enlighten the Kannada readers about the ancient Jain literature. He was delivering his ashirvachan during the All Kannada Jain literary conference at Shravanabelagola organised on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali.

He informed the gathering that the voluminous Dhavala translation works into 40 volumes under taken by the Digambar Jain Mutt, Shravanabelagola  is under progress and also assured that the Jain Mutt would focus on translation of other works into Kannada.
