MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKA COMMITTEE DONATES RS. 12 LAKHS TO THE FLOOD AFFECTED

Shravanabelagola, Nov 8: Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt has informed that the Mahamasthakabhisheka committee would donate a sum of Rs. 12 Lakhs to the flood affected people in the districts of Hassan and Mandya in Karnataka. He informed this to the National Comittee and said that this would a gesture from the committee to the flood victims. 

MAHAMASTHAKABHISHEKA NATIONAL COMMITTEE REVIEWS PROGRESS

Shravanabelagola, Nov 8: The Mahamasthakabhisheka National Committee reviewed the progress of the various preparations undertaken for the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava - 2006 of Lord Bahubali at its second two day meeting. Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt spoke in detail about the various projects undertaken. He informed that the works related to providing basic infrastructural facilities for the pilgrims and tourists would be completed by Jan 15th, 2006. He further informed that the mahotsava would be inaugurated on Jan 22nd, 2006 and hoped that the president of India would be present on the occasion. He also informed the members of the national committee about the interest generated in India and abroad about the event. He said that a request has been sent to the Government of Karnataka to declare Feb 8th, 2006 the first day of the Mahamasthakabhisheka as a general holiday so as to enable more people to participate in the event. Further he informed the gathering that more than two Digambar Jain tyagis would be present on the occasion.

Special Stamp: As released during the 1981 edition of the event, the Swamiji hoped that the postal department of the government of India would release a special stamp to commemorate the event during 2006.    

Cultural Programmes: Speaking on the cultural programmes planned for the event he informed that programmes focusing the Jaina and Bharatiya Sanskriti would be organised.

Accommodation: He informed that work for providing permanent accommodation to the pilgrims is under progress and informed that the work of the guest house with more than 400 rooms is under progress. He further informed that the work is under progress at five satellite towns for providing temporary accommodation. The various satellite towns (Nagars) planned on the occasion are Kalasha Nagar (For the Kalasha holders), Yatri Nagar (For the pilgrims), Tyagi Nagar (for the Jain ascetics), Services Colony - Government (For Government Officials) and  Services colony - Volunteers (for 1500 volunteers).

Scaffolding Work: Detailing out the scaffolding behind erected behind the statue of Lord Bahubali he said that work is under progress and said that a lift would be incorporated as a part of the scaffolding so as to enable the aged and disabled people in performing the abhisheka.

Library: He informed the members that construction work of the library undertaken by the Government of Karnataka at a cost of Rs. 1.5 Crores is under progress and said that library would be literary of all forms.

Sub Committees: Sri Charukeerthiji informed the members of the National Committee that 31 sub committees have been constituted so as to enable the smooth functioning of various works. The presidents and conveners of various sub committees presented their reports to the members and a detailed deliberation was held on the reports.

WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?!..DO NOT HESITATE

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), November 8: Is the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations lacking Governments support? No, never, this is what the working president of the Mahotsava Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar says. Rather he says the support is overwhelming, both from the central as well as the state Governments. He was speaking at the progress review meeting of the Mahamasthakabhisheka National Committee. He did not forget to praise the gesture shown by the father and son pair of Sri H.D.Devegowda and Sri H.D.Revanna. He quoted many instances where in Sri Revanna keeps telling him "What more do you need?!...Do Not Hesitate". He opined that such sadharmic gestures by Sri Revannaji keeps motivating him and his team to keep working towards the success of the event.   

REVANNA ASSURES SUPPORT FROM STATE GOVERNMENT

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), November 8: Minister for public works and energy, Government of Karnataka and the State president of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava, Sri H.D.Revanna has assured full support from the Government of Karnataka towards the success of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali at Shravanabelagola. He was speaking in his address to the fleet of audience assembled at Shravanabelagola during the National committee meeting of the Mahamasthakabhisheka on the 8th and 9th of November, 2005. Her informed that the central and state government have released Rs.90 and 25 crores respectively for the event. He also informed that the state Government would be releasing another 35 crores for various developmental activities to the taken up.

Disbursal Of Funds: He read out in detail the allocation of the funds for various developmental projects to be taken up during the event. They are as follows: Rs. 5 Crores for the upgradation of the hospitals at Chanarayapatana and Shravanabelagola, Rs. 15 Crores for providing drinking water facilities to the Shravanabelagola town through the Hemavathi river, Rs. 10 Crores for providing electric facilitiesand Rs. 1.5 crores towards the construction of a modernised library.

He said that orders have been issued to complete all the temporary and permanent accommodation facilities by the end of December. He disclosed the state Governments proposal to conduct cultural programmes on all the 12 days of the event from the artists of national and international reputation. Revanna called upon the officials of more that 20 departments of the Government to strive hard for the success of the event.

Mr.Revanna had many interactions with His Holiness Charukeerthi Bhattarakhji, Sri D.Veerendra Heggdeji and other members of the national committee.  

NEED TO PROPAGATE BAHUBALI'S MESSAGE

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), November 9: Ex - prime minister of India Sri H.D.Devegowda stressed upon the need to propagate the message of Bhagawan Bahubali. He felt that the message of Tyaga (Renunciation) preached by Bahubali is a beacon light to the people of the present days who are involved in mutual hatred. He was addressing the members of the Mahamasthakabhisheka National Committee - 2006 during the 2nd National Meeting of the Mahotsav.   

Being a member of parliament from Hassan district he assured he would try his level best for the success of the Mahotsava and felt that it is his bounded duty to work towards the success of the Mahamasthakabhisheka. He disclosed that the central government has assured to release more funds towards providing the basic amenities to the pilgrims visiting Shravanabelagola during the event. He also informed that he is keeping track about the developmental projects, railway route between Hassan and Shravanabelagola, release of postal stamp during the event and other aspects. He also promised that he would stay at Shravanabelagola during the entire month from the beginning till the end of the event.

Sriphala Offer: Sri Devegowdaji offered the Shriphala to their Holiness Acharya 108 Sri Vardhaman Sagarji Maharaj, Acharya 108 Sri Gunanandiji Maharaj and Acharya 108 Sri Varadattasagarji Maharaj.

Sri D.Veerendra Heggde of Dharmasthala and other dignitaries honoured Sri Devegowda. His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji delivered his blessings to the gathering.   

46 PATIENTS ALIGNED WITH ARTIFICIAL LIMBS

Bangalore (Karnataka), Nov 15: A series of people welfare programmes have been organised in and around Shravanabelagola by the Janakalyana Samiti of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava. As a part of this an Artificial Limb Alignment Camp had been organised at Shravanabelagola for the benefit of the needy. The camp had been organised in coordination with C.B.Bhandari Charitable Trust, Bangalore. 46 patients of the total 75 examined were aligned with the artificial limbs.

Speaking on the occasion His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi BHattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt opined that the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations should not be limited to the poojas and aradhanas instead it should also have a social dimension through such camps. Shravanabelagola M.L.A. Sri C.S.Putte Gowda distributed the artificial limbs. Shravanabelagola gram panchayat president Sri Sharat Kumar; Sri Champalal Bhandari of the the Bhandari Charitable Trust; president of the Marwadi Yuvak Sangh Sri F.R.Singhvi were present on the occasion. Sri H.N.Rajendra Kumar convener of the Janakalyana Samithi delivered the welcome address. Sri S.B.Suresh Jain convener of the Janakalyana Samiti delivered the vote of thanks.

TALENTED WOMEN HAVE TO COME OUT OF HOMES - HEMAVATHI HEGGADE

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Smt Hemavathi Verendra Heggde called upon the women folk to come out of the four walls of the houses so as to lead the society. She was speaking in her inaugural address during the All India Jain Mahila Sammelan organised at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali in February 2006. She detailed the contribution of women in general and Jain women in particular in various fields. proceeding further she called upon the women to focus upon inculcating the knowledge of Jain dharma and sadharmic rituals amongst the children.

Dr.Neelam Jain, editor of Jain Mahiladarsha presided over the function. She spoke on the deteriorating Jain values in the society and called upon the women to focus on this and work towards strengthening it in the society. Smt.Bhavani Revanna released the souvenir Madhavi on the occasion. Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar, working president of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava - 2006 delivered the key note address. Smt Shobha Vimuktha Kumar president of the Mahila Samelan organising committee delivered the welcome address. 

WOMEN EXHIBITION - A REFLECTION OF CRAFTSMAN SKILL

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: The Exhibition organised at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the All India Jain Women conference was a reflection of the craftsman skill of the Jain Women. Women from 17 mahila samaj's exhibited their works in the exhibition. Smt.Sushiladevi Pahadiya of Hyderabad inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt. The exhibition was coordinated by Smt.Navaratna Indukumar of Chikamagalur.   

INDIVIDUALISTIC THINKING IS DANGEROUS TO SOCIETY - ACHARYA VARDHAMANSAGARJI

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Acharya Muni 108 Sri Vardhaman Sagarji Maharaj felt that the individualistic thinking amongst the people has led to the deterioration of the joint family system in the society and has led to the nuclear families in the present days. He felt that the joint family system which is an integral part of the Indian society would led to the over all development of the society. He was speaking after receiving the Acharya Vandana organised during the All India Jain Women Conference at Shravanabelagola on the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali in 2006.

Speaking on the occasion Acharya Muni 108 Sri Varadatta Sagarji Maharaj felt that we get gold in the underground like wise we get Tirthankaras from the mothers womb and felt that there is no world with out mother. Acharya Muni 108 Sri Gunanandiji Maharaj opined that Women are the best example of samyam.   

WOMEN SHOULD LEAD THE SOCIETY - CHARUKEERTHI BHATTARAKJI

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt has opined that the women should be a beacon light to the society and should be an example to the society through their qualities of Karuna, Vatsalya, Prem and Vishwas. He was delivering his ashirvachan on the occasion of the All India Jain Women Conference. Further he recalled the contribution of Mother Sunanada in carving the personality of Lord Bahubali. Smt.Hemavathi Heggde inaugurated the oil painting of the Bahubali's balaleela titled Mother Sunanda's Son Bahubali.
