ALL INDIA JAIN WOMEN CONFERENCE AT SHRAVANABELAGOLA

FROM 18TH TO 20TH NOVEMBER 2005

Shravanabelagola (Hassan District, Karnataka), April 1: As a prelude to the Mahamasthakabhishekha of Lord Bahubali scheduled to be held at Shravanabelagola in February 2006 the All India Jain Women Conference has been organised at Shravanabelagola on the 18th, 19th and 20th of November 2005. Smt. Shobha Vimuktha Kumar the coordinator of the conference has informed that the preparations for the conference have begun under the able guidance of Swastisri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain mutt.

     During the three day conference seminars, interactive sessions, exhibition and cultural programmes will be organised. The women who have been working towards the upliftment and propagation of the Jain religion would be felicitated on the occasion. All Jain Women organisations, Sanghs and Mandals are here by requested to register for the conference. The women organisations can register by providing the following details: Name of the organisation, address, phone numbers, year in which it was founded, names of the president and the secretary, total number of members and other details.

PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR NATIONAL WOMEN CONFERENCE

Bangalore (Karnataka), September 1: Preparations are underway for the National Jain Women's conference to be held at Shravanabelagola from 18th to 20th November, 2005. This conference has been organised as a part of the Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations of Lord Bahubali. Smt Shobha Vimukthakumar the chief convener of the conference has announced this. She has informed that many Jain Women Associations (Mahila Samaj, Mandal, Sangh's and others) have already registered for the conference. She has requested the unregistered Jain women organisations to register at the earliest.

During the conference, exhibition of the cultural, art and craft articles will be conducted. Interested ladies can contact Smt Vimukthakumar for furthe details. On the occasion a competition of banners with a dimension of 3X6 feet has been organised. Interest padies are here by requested to send in their entries to the competition. EXHIBITION DURING WOMEN'S CONFERENCE

Shravanabelagola (Karnataka), October 15: On the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali a three day National Women Conference has been organised at Shravanabelagola from 18th to 20th November, 2005. An exhibition will also be arranged during the conference. Books, paintings, craft articles and other attractive articles can be exhibited during the exhibition. TALENTED WOMEN HAVE TO COME OUT OF HOMES - HEMAVATHI HEGGADE

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Smt Hemavathi Verendra Heggde called upon the women folk to come out of the four walls of the houses so as to lead the society. She was speaking in her inaugural address during the All India Jain Mahila Sammelan organised at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali in February 2006. She detailed the contribution of women in general and Jain women in particular in various fields. proceeding further she called upon the women to focus upon inculcating the knowledge of Jain dharma and sadharmic rituals amongst the children.

Dr.Neelam Jain, editor of Jain Mahiladarsha presided over the function. She spoke on the deteriorating Jain values in the society and called upon the women to focus on this and work towards strengthening it in the society. Smt.Bhavani Revanna released the souvenir Madhavi on the occasion. Sri A.R.Nirmal Kumar, working president of the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava - 2006 delivered the key note address. Smt Shobha Vimuktha Kumar president of the Mahila Samelan organising committee delivered the welcome address. 

WOMEN EXHIBITION - A REFLECTION OF CRAFTSMAN SKILL

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: The Exhibition organised at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of the All India Jain Women conference was a reflection of the craftsman skill of the Jain Women. Women from 17 mahila samaj's exhibited their works in the exhibition. Smt.Sushiladevi Pahadiya of Hyderabad inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt. The exhibition was coordinated by Smt.Navaratna Indukumar of Chikamagalur.   

INDIVIDUALISTIC THINKING IS DANGEROUS TO SOCIETY - ACHARYA VARDHAMANSAGARJI

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Acharya Muni 108 Sri Vardhaman Sagarji Maharaj felt that the individualistic thinking amongst the people has led to the deterioration of the joint family system in the society and has led to the nuclear families in the present days. He felt that the joint family system which is an integral part of the Indian society would led to the over all development of the society. He was speaking after receiving the Acharya Vandana organised during the All India Jain Women Conference at Shravanabelagola on the Mahamasthakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali in 2006.

Speaking on the occasion Acharya Muni 108 Sri Varadatta Sagarji Maharaj felt that we get gold in the underground like wise we get Tirthankaras from the mothers womb and felt that there is no world with out mother. Acharya Muni 108 Sri Gunanandiji Maharaj opined that Women are the best example of samyam.   

WOMEN SHOULD LEAD THE SOCIETY - CHARUKEERTHI BHATTARAKJI

Shravanabelagola, Nov 18: Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt has opined that the women should be a beacon light to the society and should be an example to the society through their qualities of Karuna, Vatsalya, Prem and Vishwas. He was delivering his ashirvachan on the occasion of the All India Jain Women Conference. Further he recalled the contribution of Mother Sunanada in carving the personality of Lord Bahubali. Smt.Hemavathi Heggde inaugurated the oil painting of the Bahubali's balaleela titled Mother Sunanda's Son Bahubali.

Uma Garg of New Delhi (Music); Kumari Prachi Shah of Mumbai (Dance); Kumari Veena Ajmera of Rajasthan (Folk Dance), Dr.Kusuma Jain from Udaipur in Rajasthan; Kumari Nikita Rajendran from Mysore in Karnataka (Sports); Kumari Garima Jain from Indore in Madhya Pradesh; Kumari Kusuma Prasad from Tumkur in Karnataka (Dance); Dr.Padmarekha Jiragi from Kolhapur in Maharashtra (Medicine) were felicitated in an attractive function.

Sri Adinath Digambar Jain Mandir Mahila Samaj of Bangalore, Khandelwal Sri Digambar Jain Mahila Samithi, Nritya Kalashala of Hassan, Kumari Garima Jain of Indore, Ratnatraya Yuva VEdike of Bangalore, Jain Mahila SAbha of Mangalore and Kumari Veena Ajmera of Rajasthan presented their cultural programmes.

Shravanabelagola, Nov 20: Salumarada Timmakka, a lady popularly known for here planting of plants project so as to conserve the environment was presented with Rs. 25,000 during the All Indian Jain Women Conference Held at Shravanabelagola. His Holiness Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji the pontiff of the Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt felicitated her and presented a cheque of Rs. 25,000.
