It was the capital city of Mysore and is situated on an island on river
Couvery. It houses Tippu's tomb, Summer Palaces and Ranganatha Swamy
Temple.
MELUKOTE: The hill
Top Temple of Narayana was made famous by Sri Ramanuja. The main deity
is Cheluva Narayana - a beautiful idol.
RANGANATHITTU
SANCTUARY: A world famous bird sanctuary. It draws birds from as far
as Siberia and Australia.
KOKKEREBELLUR:
About 13 Kms from Maddur town on Bangalore - Msore Road. Another bird
sanctuary known for variety of birds.
BHIMESHWARI: On the
bank of river Cauvery, afishing camp is famous for its Mahseer fish.
SHIVANASAMUDRAM:
Famous water falls and a hydro electric plant.
